If you are a business owner, then you have more than your share of responsibilities. From managing your employees, to keeping up with daily business tasks, you have a lot on your plate. Keeping up with your Melbourne, Florida advertising can be a challenge in itself. However, are you making one of these critical marketing mistakes? If any of these apply to you, then you might need to re-think your marketing strategies.

You have a “One and Done” attitude

One and done doesn’t cut it. Too much of your time and effort was spent conducting your marketing efforts the right way in order to just have it one and done. If it’s successful, then keep on doing it again! And again. Chances are that if you stop, then your competitor might pick up on your success. Double whammy.

You Aren’t Tracking Your Results

By not tracking your results; it’s impossible to tell what’s working, what’s not working, and how you can improve moving forward. One example that comes to mind is Google Analytics and SEO on your own website; you can monitor what search terms users are using to get to your website, and what websites (referrals) they’re coming from. With this data, you can make adjustments moving forward. Your marketing efforts should conduct the same practices.

You should be clear and precise on your primary goals regarding your marketing efforts. Is your goal to attract new customers? Generate new sales? Increase profit margins? What about building customer relationships? Whatever your goals may be you need to implement a way to track your progress. Some are easier to track while others present a larger challenge.

Your Marketing is focused On An “All About Me” Viewpoint

This tends to be the biggest and most common mistake of them all. It’s natural to think that your product, service, and promotions are the best and everyone should use you instead of your competitors.

The reality is that your customers don’t care about you or your product/services/store. They want what’s best for them; and if you provide that for them, then you’ve done your job.

Here’s some food for thought: quit focusing about what you offer and start focusing on what your customer wants. It’s this type of mindset that builds long-term customer relationships and encourages loyalty.

If you are communicating via Facebook, Twitter or other mediums exclusively about your products, services, promotions, instead of whats interesting, useful, and beneficial to the customer, then you’re making this crucial marketing mistake. You need to create value for your customer.

You Don’t Emphasize Attention to Details

Known as the nitty-gritty. The down and dirty. The attention to detail will often make or break your marketing efforts. Our suggestion? Place a large focus on the details.
Paying attention to the details is what will allow your marketing to move forward and excel moving forward.

For example, you can send out a compelling newsletter that has extraordinary content, a catchy subject line, and a powerful call-to-action. If you don’t include small details such as your website, contact info, or a way to even subscribe to your future posts, then that’s where you take a hit.

So while you spent all your efforts creating a powerful, imposing e-mail newsletter to get your message across, you essentially could have wasted that opportunity by not paying attention to the smaller details. Put yourself in the shoes of the customers receiving it.
